Apple Cider Vinegar


In 2003, I was 23 and living in San Diego. We were at a little ocean side cafe having breakfast with our neighbors, and an older man with a major tan and gorgeous white teeth beckoned me over to his table. The people we were with were laughing, because even back then, this sort of thing happened to me often. Random strangers would strike up conversations with me and everyone would have to wait around while I chatted with my new best friend.

This time, as soon as I got to the table, this gentleman said, “I know you don’t have too much time, your friends look ready to leave. I need you to listen to me and do as I say. Every morning, put 2 tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar in water water, with a 1/2 tsp raw honey, a squeeze of lemon and 2 pinches of sea salt. Drink it. Every day. Promise me. You are special and you know this knowledge is important. Listen to me and do this.”

Now, I have always had the kind of life where this happened, and there are so many things that I do daily that came from the odd and random advice of strangers. But this one was super foreign to me. At 23, I had NO CLUE what raw honey meant… or where to buy it. I didn’t really understand what sea salt was either… not really. I thought all salt was the same. But my husband obliged me when I told him we needed to drive 30 minutes into San Diego to find a natural food store. I asked the woman at the counter for help and she asked, “who told you to do this? a stranger? how funny!”

So I did this for at least a month, and I did see some health changes, but I eventually gave it up because it was a little gross and I was a little young and flippant.

What was the most interesting… is that when my first born daughter was about a year old, I was told by ANOTHER stranger to drink a very similar concoction. So, I eventually had to see the signs God was sending. Drink Apple Cider Vinegar. Now and forever.


What is Apple Cider Vinegar?

A fermented product made by combining crushed apples with live bacteria in the form of yeast. Some are filtered and some are un-filitered, I have always been taught to stick to raw, organic & unfiltered apple cider vinegar. My favorite brand is Bragg’s, though I have definitely used others before.



What makes Apple Cider Vinegar so AMAZING?


It contains beneficial enzymes and antioxidants, such as acetic acid and malic acid! These balance the pH level within the body; establishing a healthy ratio of acid to alkalinity. This nourishes the liver and other organs within the digestive tract, helping to cleanse the body.

Start looking for ways to incorporate Apple Cider Vinegar into your life. Some of my favorite ways to add it in:

Easy Peasy Raw Apple Cider Vinaigrette
makes about 1 cup


1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 cup raw apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 drop dōTERRA Lemon Essential Oil
a little zest of the Lemon
1-2 tablespoons raw honey, as needed for sweetness
1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
salt and pepper, to taste


Combine in a blender until the ingredients are well combined. Adjust flavor to taste

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to a week, and shake well before serving each time.



Raw Apple Cider Vinegar Lemonade
Based off of my liver’s Guardian Angel recipe, back in San DIego 2003

16oz Room Temperature FILTERED water
2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
2 Table spoons Lemon Juice
1 Drop dōTERRA lemon essential oil
1-2 tsp Organic Raw Unfiltered Honey or Organic Maple Syrup
1 dash Cayenne Powder
1 dash Himalayan Sea Salt


Add all ingredients to a mason jar- seal with lid. Shake until all ingredients are mixed well, drink up!
